Christmasland in New Taipei City 2025, Nov. 14–Dec. 29, Taiwan

November 26, 2025 By admin Leave a Comment

Crowds gathered beneath the winter night sky as Christmasland 2025 lit up New Taipei City, and there was this soft moment right before the show began where everything felt strangely calm—then the lights snapped on, music burst through the plaza, and the air instantly shifted into full celebration mode. The opening ceremony unfolded like a holiday movie scene: performers from a circus troupe flew and twirled above the stage under beams of shifting light, and people in the audience couldn’t help but look up with that child-like expression that only Christmas can pull out of a person.

The energy spiked when entertainer and cheer sensation A-Young Lee appeared, strolling in hand-in-paw with Cony from LINE FRIENDS, which honestly made half the crowd scream and pull out phones faster than reflex. New Taipei City Mayor Yu-Ih Hou joined them, smiling like someone genuinely enjoying the moment rather than performing duty, and together they kicked off the countdown. When the Christmas tree came alive—lights rushing upward like sparks taking flight—the whole plaza glowed as if someone had just thrown open the door to December.

This year’s theme leans into a kind of playful fantasy. LINE FRIENDS and the adorable minini crew paint the celebration with charm and candy-colored joy. The centerpiece—the “Fun Circus Tent” Christmas Tree—feels more like an imagination tower than a simple tree. Surrounding installations stretch the circus theme into every corner: whimsical lights here, oversized characters there, and that wandering feeling like maybe you’ve stepped not into a public square, but into someone’s cheerful daydream.

Then came the part people will probably talk about for years: the “Dreams Take Flight” performance. It wasn’t just a show; it was a two-layered world—acrobats soaring through the air while a parade moved below, balloons and aerial silk dancers weaving height and ground together. It created a sense of motion that was almost unreal, like watching a circus defy gravity on purpose.

And when the world-famous 3D projection mapping started… well, the City Hall stopped being a building and became a giant glowing storybook. Designed by a Singaporean creative team, the projection pushed narrative, nostalgia, and visual overload right to the limit—in the best way. The LED corridor above synced with the tree outside, making the entire square pulse, ripple, and move like a living scene. Brown, Cony, and friends sent messages back and forth in animated form, reminding everyone how digital love and friendship still feel real—especially during the holidays.

There’s always something quiet beneath Christmas lights: a longing, a memory, a sense of connection. This opener managed to hold both the spectacle and the sentiment. Messages, little hearts sent online, good wishes across continents—somehow the show made them feel warmer and closer.

For the next 45 days, this place will buzz with that same soft-electric magic. If you’re nearby—or even if you’re debating a winter trip—this might be one of those experiences worth stepping into rather than just scrolling past.

It’s Christmasland season now, and New Taipei City knows how to make that feel unforgettable.
